I just made a response to one of my commenters and i had to make a post out of it. This is gonna be quick.
Music in general has gone downhill. The best example i think is with the "we are the world". I want you to watch the 1980 version and the 2010 version. the 1980 version seems like they are just trying to help people and they are doing it for a good cause, for the 2010 version it seems like they are thinking "whens my next paycheck"
What do you think? do you agree? Do you see any other examples? Leave a comment and ill try to get back to you.
I 100% agree that mainstream music has gone downhill. I mean just saw the billboard music awards and crap like Lady Antebellum and Rihanna are getting best artists awards. There's still plenty of pro stuff though, just gotta look beyond the radio.
ReplyDeleteMost mainstream music is just music producers making money by turning terrible singers into decent ones with auto-tune.
ReplyDeleteSee: Justin Bieber
Which is why I listen to Modern Baroque and New Age, as well as movie scores. Can't go wrong with some Karl Jenkins.
ReplyDeleteCracked did an article on this. Apparently music has always had its horrible side. But I hate most mainstream now, but I don't get worked up over it.
ReplyDeletehahahah lexle1!
ReplyDeleteWell, people just ran out of originality. What can i say..couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeletehmm. nice comparison.
ReplyDeleteNice work, will follow.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Lexle1
ReplyDeleteLexle1 Definelty has the right idea!
ReplyDeleteI don't know, in some way it has gone downhill but in others I think it has progressed. The production techniques have got loads better, which I love. Plus dance music has become massively diversified. So my answer is both a yes and a no.
ReplyDeleteI think this was bound to happen eventually. I like having my own favourite artists which don't receive mainsteam light though, makes me feel much more exclusive.
ReplyDeleteMeh, I listen to mostly metal and most of the bands seem to be in it for the music, seeing as they aren't really main stream.
ReplyDeletei agree with you man
ReplyDeleteI can agree, music has gone majorly downhill. I have to flip through tons of stuff to find something decent to listen now a days.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree. Mainstream music has gone downhill a bit (not trying to sound like a hipster here) though there are some mainstream that are still lovely. Mostly in the country side of things.
ReplyDeleteNow underground music, especially underground hiphop and rap, is some of the most meaningful stuff ever.
And in the 80's they had their paycheck musicians too.
So we have mainstream for those who make money and those who just want to listen to something catchy, and underground for those who want to appreciate music. If anything music has grown greater over the years.
music most definitely has not gone downhill. You just have to learn to look around the bushes a bit for those great unknown bands. Just because societies taste in music has gone downhill doesnt mean music itself has
ReplyDeleteThe music is dead man.
ReplyDeleteReal musicians are not appreciated, It is dead.
the 1980 seems a Uniceff videoclip, not like the newest...
ReplyDeleteIt's sad but true. The old one had so much feeling to it. You could tell they were all in it for the right reasons.
ReplyDeleteOf course, 90% of it is the RNB shit you hear on every radio station you turn to.
ReplyDeleteWell the music industry is not run by musician.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right, the music industry changed drasticaly
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily think music has gone downhill, it's just a lot harder to find bands that really sound great.
ReplyDeleteI personally am not a fan of mainstream songs, I really like peaceful accoustic songs now a days :). Nothing against them but i think that just the huge amount of artists who play (IMO) bad music far outnumber the good musicians haha.
ReplyDeleteif any of you have the time and would care to look at my blog there is a link to 3 songs i personally recorded and i would really appreciate any reviews of them :)
